Great Shine Exteriors

When to Schedule Holiday Light Installation

Book in October. Not because the lights go up then, but because that is when the good install dates still exist.

October booking, November install

The December calendar fills before the first cold snap. Booking in October means your install lands on a workable day rather than in the first freeze, and it gives you time to decide what you actually want lit.

Late October through November is the comfortable window for the work itself in mid Missouri. Dry ground, safe ladder footing, and daylight to finish in.

Plan the lines of the house first

The displays that look calm and expensive from the street follow the real architecture, the main roof line, the gable peaks, the porch. Even spacing along fewer lines reads better than lights everywhere.

Deciding this before install day saves standing in the cold rethinking the layout with a ladder already up.

Fixings and power

Clips, not staples or nails. Staples go through trim and stay there long after the lights come down. It is also worth confirming that an exterior outlet works and deciding where a timer lives before anything is hung.

Agree takedown when you book

January removal should be part of the arrangement, not a separate scramble. Agreeing the window up front is how displays come down on time and get coiled and boxed properly for next year.
